Rain has fallen in many parts of the country, and freshes aro. reported in the rivers 011 the West Coast of the South Island. Moderate to strong northerly winds have prevailed northward of Westport and Kaikoura, and strong westerlies changed to southerly elsewhere, but with decreasing force. ' The _ barometer- Ins fallen in the north, but risen steadily in tho south. Present indications arc for cloudy and changeable weather, with rain in many parts.-- Modcrqto to strong westerly and southerly winds will probably prevail.
