NATIVES IN REVOLT.
A NEW HEBRIDES RISING, By Telegraph—Press Association-Copyright Sydney, March 22. A French steamer has brought news of a reyolt by natives in tho Island of Santo, in tho New Hebrides. Just before tho steamer left New Caledonia a schooner arrived from the island with an urgent call for help from the white .settlers, whose lives wero threatened by the rebel natives. The British and French authorities arranged for tho immodiato dispatch of a police force and the French warship Kersaint. Tho result of the mission is not yet known. PUNITIVE EXPEDITION ARRIVES. (Rec. March 23, 0.10 a.m.) Sydney, March 22. Advices by tho Islnnd steamor &tato that tho native trouble on tho island of Santos is tho outcome of long-standing quarrels between the coast and the inlaud natives. Numbers havo been killed on both sides. The punitive expedition has arrived and departed for the seat of the trouble, which it is expected will soon be quelled.
