A Blue-book has been published dealing with the question of Asiatic immigration into South Africa. Lord Crewe, then Colonial Secretary, in a dispatch dated October 7 stated that j the proscription by Act' of Parliament of the inhabitants of other parts of the Empire was open to the gravest objection, but the Government fully recognised the right of a self-governing com- ' munity to choose tho elements of which it should be constituted. ' Lord Crewe added that ho only asked ' that immigrants should not bo subjected 1 to unnecessary humiliation.
