Tho prosecution was invited by advertisement in two issues of tho Otaki "Mail" to como forward ■ and give evidence. The committee sat on Monday, March 20th, at S p.m., at the offices of Messrs. Kirk and Stevens, Otaki. At the appointed hour there was no appearance of tho prosecution, nnd after wailing 20 minutes llio defenco was heard. Four witnesses were examined on oath, nnd the findings of that committee aro as follow:— "We, the undersigned, being a. committeo set up for the purpose of inquiring into the alleged misbehaviour of Mr, Byron Brown with a certain young lady, and having thoroughly investigated the said allegations, do unanimously and unhesitatingly declare, on positive proof, that such charges have not the slightest foundation in fact."
