VISIT TO TAKANAKI. (By Telcgraph.-PrcEs Association.) New Plymouth, March 21. The Acting-Premier (tho Hon. J. Carroll), who hns been on a visit to Parihaka since Saturday, arrived here about midnay, and received deputations on various local matters. During the afternoon he visited the petroleum works at Maturoa, and saw a blow-out in progress at >Jo. 3 bore, oil flowing at No. 2, drilling at No, S, and also witnessed an exhibition of the use of oil and natural gas from the bore in the furnace*. He seemed greatly ijn, pressed.
