SENIORITY LIST Tho following is the seniority list of the new officers and non-commissioned officers of tho New Zealand Staff Corps and Permanent Staff who have lately passed out from the camp of instruction at Featherston. They aro on probation for a period of six months tram tho date on which they first joined tho camp. J As many of the areas to be covered by the officers and non-comnnssioned officers cover a wide extent of country, arrangements are being made for the provision of horses and equipment', and an annual allowance for fodder. THE TAUHERINIKAU CAMP. AN EXCHANGE OF COMPLIMENTS. ' In connection with the recent school of instruction at Tauherinikau, the A\ airarapa Racing Club, by resolution, extended the following compliment to Major General Godley, commanding New Zealand defence forces:— , "Tile stewards of the W airarapa Racing Club, with a desire to show their sympathy with the defence training scheme, will grant the use of their grounds and furnituro to the -military camp free ot charge." In acknowledgment of the courtesy General Godley replied:— "I shall bo glad if you will convey to the stewards of the Wairarapa Racing Club my sincere thanks for their courtesy - and generosity. I have already made referenco in camp to our great indebtedness to the stewards, but I should like. - to express once more how much I myself I and all ranks feel that we owe to the stewards for their kindness and their 1 sympathy in our work." s 1 A Letter From the Governor. j His Excellency thp Governor has also - expressed his appreciation of the Taui herinikau Camp, which he visited just j before the conclusion, in a letter addressed by his private secretary (Mr. Arthur Guise), to tho Commandant:— ! "I am instructed by the Governor to convey to you and to ask you to transmit to Colonel Heard and the officers and 1 non-commissioned officers under his com--1 mand at the camp of instruction at Tau--1 lierinikau, an expression of his Excellency's high appreciation of the military efficiency displayed by all ranks during J his' visit to tho camp on Saturday last. His Excellency was greatly imnresscd by the admirable manner in which tho af- - tack was delivered during the morning ' proceedings; also the smart and efficient I manner in which both the company and r troop drill was performed in the after- ' noon.
