GOING HOME "ALONG TUB LINK." (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Westport, March 20. At the inquest oil Michael Williams, president of the Westport Labour Lnion, tlie evidence showed that ho was walking along the railway line on his- way homo from the races, and apparently fell from a culvert bridge 19ft. or 1511'., and sustained injuries to his head. Ho was nccii on the. line about .1.15 p.m. on I'l'iday, found unconscious at 'J a.m. on Saturday, and died at noon. A verdict of accidentally hilled by falling .was brought iu. UEATII WHILE BATHING. Christchurch, 11 a roll 20. Michael Fitzgerald, a seaman on the schooner Eunice, was drowned in Lyltelton Harbour yesterday. lie and a mate went for a swim, Fitzgerald entering the water first. AVlien his mate' was ready, ho discovered Fitzgerald floating with his head under the water. A doctor, .who was summoned, expressed the opinion that death was primarily due to heart failure. Fitzgerald was a native of Cork, thirty-two years of age. BUGGY ACCIDENT. Gisborno, March 20. Mr?. R- Fitzgerald had a. leg-broken through a bugsry accident on tho Pouawa Road on Saturday last. Two young ladies from the Wairarapa received minor injuries. Mr. Fitzgerald had a nasty fall when riding for assistance, through his horse colliding with a calf. A VICIOUS HORSE. Auckland, March_2o. Richard Kalpli, manager of the Northern Timber Company, was killed at Taupiri—presumably by a kick from a horse. Ho had.been driving, and at tho timo was alighting from a trap in front of his own residence. WOMAN COMMITS SUICIDE. Eltliam, March 20. Hetty Stevens, single, aged 25, daughter of a local resident, committed suicide to-day by drinking poisonous weed exterminator. She had been in a depressed state for some weeks.
