AUSTRALIA'S DEFENCE.
1 JAPAN IN THE PACIFIC. - By Telegraph—Press Association-Oojyriirht London, March 19. Tlio "Sunday Times" pays that Australia's fear of Japan'is more reasonable than Britain's fear of Germany, yet Britain, in her egoism and fear, has concentrated her .ships in the North Sea. Sir E. Grey (Secretary of Stato for Foreign Affairs) and .Air. M'Kenna (First 1/oril of the Admiralty) are wholly absorbed in Britain's possible danger. If Japan forced her policy upon Australia, and the United Stales forced hers upon Canfldn, the margin of naval superiority would be so fine that Britain would bo unable to interfere. . . . . "Admiral Henderson's report shows," states the paper, "that Australia's preparation for defence is to l>e made rather leisurely, but tho progress of events is likely to quicken tho pace,"
