THE WELSH RIOTS.

CONSTABLES' PAY DISPUTED. By Telegraph—Press Association-Copyrieht London, March 19. The House of Commons passed a vote of ,£IO,OOO for special allowances for the metropolitan police who did service in South Wales during the recent strike. Tho Home Secretary (Mr. Winston Churchill) stated that it had not been expected that the local authority would contribute towards the ordinary pay of the police, but the chief constable had given a written promise to contribute an allowance. This promise had, however, been repudiated by the Glamorganshire authorities, and the law officers were now considering the question of taking action in the matter.
