ASSOCIATION
Ramblers Club nro stated to havo secured tho services .of Mr. F. Wilson, Into of the Wycombe Wanderers Reserve Club (England). . REFEREES' ANNUAL REPORT. Tho sixteenth annual report of tho Wellington Referees' Association ("soccer" fame) contained the following'"The past season has licen a rccord one so far as tho appointments of..referees required was concerned, but the association was nearly always able to meet the demand. It is likely, however, that the forthcoming season is going to be even more strenuous than last. At the beginning of the season the rules and procedure of the association were reconstituted, and, in place of the old system of chairman and secretary, tho association was nut on a proper basis, and was managed l>y a president, two vice-presidents, and a committee of four, along with a secretory and treasurer. An annual subscription'of"2s. Gd. was decided upon to enable the association to have a small fund of its own, so that its increasing responsibilities could be borne by its own members rather than by depending upon the Wellington Football Association. A new method of. examination was also decided upon, and ha 9 added to the efficiency of members. A nlan of the field of play is now used at all meetings, and this assists in the discussions. The fortnightly meetings of the. association were well attended, the average attendance being 2.5 at each meeting, which speaks welLfor the ipembws'*enthusiasm. It is witit' regret "tHlft . yiiirr cbnimi.tco notes that Tory- few, if any, players havo so far taken advantage of the regulation which permits them to attend meetings'of your association and take...partJiiy.jtho discussion: It is hoped that nlavers will tako a bigger interest in this" in future, as it will be of great benefit, not only to them-1 selves, but to referees as well. More cases of misconduct are being reported by members each season, but, while this is apparently unavoidable as the game progresses, your committee would recommend to all referees tho absolute ncccssiiv of having comnlete control of each match from the kick-off, so endeavouring to stamp out-all ungentlomanly conduct'from tho outset. With tniuch satisfaction it is noted that the New Zealand Referees' Association has been placed upon an improved footing, and that it is endeavouring to considerably improve the standard of referccing throughout the Dominion. Other important' matters ore also under consideration, following unon a suggestion from your association, "the New Zealand Referees' Association has adopted badges for universal use throughout the Dominion, and a supply of these will shortly bo available for members. Special thanks are duo to Mr. Srarfr for tho iiso of his office during tho oast Mason for meetings. Thanks are also due, to Mr. Salmon for donation, and Messrs. Mayer, Salmon, Paton, Yeoman and Godbor for taking charge of evenings sot aiart for nue*tions and lectures, also Mr. Wells as" our delegate to the N.Z.R.A. With tho exception of Messrs. Auld and Maver, all the officers offer themselves for reelection." The balance-sheet sets out receipts for the year amounting to J:2 Bs. Tho expenditure was ill lis. 3d.
