The legacy has been left the Harrinj. ton family bv the late Patrick M'Guire, of New Yorl;, a brother of the legatees' mother. Mr. M'Gwire, when a youth, emigrated from Galway, Ireland, to New York, and, through the influence o! wealthy relations, obtained employment in one o£ the important railways 50 years ago. Being a shrewd yomifj man, lie saw the possibilities of speculations in railway stocks. Speculate ho did, nnd success crowned his efforts to such an extent that, at the time of his death, a year ago, it is stated bo left seven million dollars, nil invested in valuable railway stocks. The whole of this estate it is understood goes to the Harrington family, which consists of Mr. John Harrington, of Denniston, Mr. Barclay Harrington, of Hawera, nnd Mrs. Gow, lata of Barrett's Hotel, Wellington, and now of Sydney, who will each receive nearly half a million. The legatees' solicitors, Msssrs. Hubble and Co., Broadway, New York, discovered the whereabouts of the Harrington family through the agency of the Union Bank of Australia.

The Messrs. Harrington will be staying in Wellington for a few days. Mr. John Harrington will shortly make a visit to New York, after an absence from that city of 27 years. He has appointed Messrs. Dwan Bros, to transact local business for him.
