AUSTRALIAN RACING.

By Telegraph—Press Association—Cbpyrieht Sydney, March 20. Chamade won the mile. Welter liaco at the Warwick Farm races; boating Mirobis and Reg, in that order, by a length. NOTES AMD COMMENTS. [Br Glencoe.l The AVanganui Trotting Club's meeting takes place on Thursday and Friday next on the.Wanganui Racecourse. Nominations (or all events at the Wairarapa Racing Club's meeting close at B.p.m. on Saturday nest, with the secretary, Mr. E A. Laery, Featherston. Toa Tuhi paid a sensational dividend when he won the Karangahako Handicap at Pacroa last Friday. After the Mastorton Racing Club's meeting, the Auckland horseman, H. Gray, will go to Riccarton to ride work for R. J. Mason. C. Coleman has in work at Ellc-rslie a brother to, Leonator that shows promise of proving useful later on. i" V... , Winning jockeys at the Opnnake Racing Club's meeting wero T. Pine, R. Barlow. IV. Ryan, C. Brown, C. Monk, and R. ICelly. The Auckland hurdle horse Don Quex, who was originally regarded as a very 'safe jumper, has failed to complete the course in the last four hurdle races in which he has started. He made some amends, however, by annexing the Jumpers' Flat at the Ohinemuri. meeting. The sale of Sonltilorm (recently reported) has fallen through owing to the colt's failure to satisfactorily pass a veterinary examination. This means that he will race in his usual colours at the Opani meeting. Turna, who is the sole representative of the Porirua stable at tho Masterton meeting, leaves this morning in charge of L. Traill, who will rido him in his engagements at Opaki. The Lincolnshire Handicap will be run in England to-day. The Liverpool Grand National will be decided on Friday next. Trainer H. Hickcy. who has been undergoing an operation for appendicitis, was sufficiently well yesterday (o be able to leavo the hospital. Playmate, who broke down badly at Wanganui, is again able to walk about, though his damaged leg is still in plaster. Kopek, a very good-looking five-year-old full-brother to Oiyji, is expected to arrive at Porirua to-morrow to commence training. The horso is owned by Mr. J. Buckley, and has just been taken in . hand after a twelve months' spell, which was necessitated through a breakdown whilst training at Oamaru. The weights for the Easter Handicap at Ellerslie have been published, and any day now we may expect to hear from the C.J.C. hamlicapper. Mr. Morse has rightly placed Danube (9st. 31b.) on top in the Ellerslie mile, and the only matter whirh most people would require to know before making Mr. Greenwood's colt a strong favourite would be the probability of his seeing the post. Most likely lie will be kept at home, even though he has received a very tempting weight. Equitas (list. lib.) seems to have got all that she was entitled to, and perhaps a little more. Her form at Fcilding and Bulls, where she met nothing like tho class which she will encounter at Ellerslie, was not suggestive of her success in the north. Lower down tho list are a few that are more likely to commend themselves. The top weights seem to have all the best of it in the Brighton Hurdle#, and should, beat those below them. Maidi (10st. 51b.) can hove no chance on Wanganui form, where Playmate made a hack of her.
