SHOW AT WAVERLEY.

AN INTERESTING OUTING. There was a large attendance at tho third annual show of tho Waverley A. and 1\ Association. . . HORSE JUMPING. Tho jumping events were among the chief attractions. Iu the Maiden Hunters' Competition, tho jumping was very close, Ingen, Keiidbr, awl Tolstoy being a tie, but at the' jump-oft Tolstoy marie- a false step at the final*; fenco- and had to be satisfied with' se'cbnd place. •In the open leaping competition, 11 out of 20. entrants had to jump it off, some splendid exhibitions being witnessed. This event was looked forward to with some interest, as it carries a silver cup (which is presented by Mr. James Smith, of Waverley), and a purse of seven sovs. Last year this event was won,by Norman Moore's "Laatafos," who, however, was not successful a second. time, tho prize going to Mr. N. Patersou's" "Haere," a well-known performer, from near Hawera. Haere was well ridden iirjhe final by Mr. A. Mitchell. Mr. G. V. Pearce, M.P., presented the cup to Mr. Mitchell (in the absence .'.f Mr. I'aterson), at ■ the same time complimenting Mr. Mitchell on his riding. IIOESFS. Mr. John R.
