Alfred Bhutan, a c\h driver, was chnrged with assaulting Rasmus Jepseu, another cab driver. Mr. T. Weston appeared for accused, who pleaded not guilty. Evidence was given by three cabmen to the effect that Bindeu had struck Jcpscii on the bead with an iron spanner. Accused slated that he had acted under great provocation. He was fined <C 2, and ordered to pay medical expenses .£1 Is., in default seven days' imprisonment. Clara Brannigan, alias Doyle, was charted with wilfully damaging two panes of glass, valued at 7s„ the property of Alexander MM/eod. She was lined 20s„ and ordered to pay witness s expenses 4k mid make good the damage. Delault was fixed at seven days' imprisonment. Rasmus Jensen, who bad been found drunk while 111 charge of a cab, was fined 205., in default seven days imprisonm Bartholomew Mahoiiev pleaded not EuiltT to a charge oi drunkenness, but the evidence was very much against him, and bo was sentenced to a months im(fending inebriate, who did uot annear, was ordered to forfait his bail of "10s., or undergo 24 hours' imprisonment.
