Pherwell thinks that Australia will win tho triangular .contest between England, Australia, and South Africa. LAW PLAYS INSURANCE. At Kelburne Park yesterday tho annual cricket fixture, Law v. Insurance. \viis decided. , It resulted in a win for the Law representatives by 148 runs on tho first innings. Insurance, batting first, mado 131 runs, the principal scorers being Midlane 38 and BraggO 36. Howden and .Martin each secured four wickets for the Law team. Going to tho wickots, Law compiled 282 runs,-to which total Beechey contributed 84, Hnigli 35, and Salinond 32. Beechey and Haigh made a stand of 110 runs for the fifth wicket. Bragge, four wickets, and Broad, two wickets, did tho best bowling for the Insurance team. In a second visit to'the wjckcts tho Insurance men had lost six wickets for 180 runs when stumps were drawn. Midlano made 77 and Newbold 55, retired. SCHOOL CHAMPIONSHIP. Mount Cook defeated Petono West by 67 runs in the • final for the school championship decidcd at KclbumoFark yesterday afternoon. Mount Cook made 81 (Donaldson 33) and 56, to which Petono West replied with 43 and 27. A feature of tho match was tho excellent fielding by tho Mount Cook boys. Tho present holders (Terraco Club) of tho Congregational Shield have been challenged by the Newtown Club, and the match will be played at Kelburno Park to-day.
