ALTERATIONS IN THE RULES. The new rule book just to hand gives the ioliowing ulcerations:— Rule 3. Orouml.—a lootnote is added "the 25yds. line must not bo tuny drawn," but only its extremities (Tyus. only to be marked at cacti end), as snown in the plan. Rule +. Goals, posts, etc.—lnstead of tho posts p being two inches square, the rulo reads: "Iwo inches broau aud not more than three inches in depth." Rulo 7. Sticks—This rule now reads: "Stick shall have a Hat lace on its lefthand side only. The head of a stick (i.e., the part below the top of the splice) shall not be edged with,- or have, insets or fittings ot hard wood, or of any other substance, nor shall there be any sharp edges or dangerous splinters. Eacli stick must bo of such sizo that it can be passed through a 2in. ring. An indiarubber ring, 4in. in external diameter when on the stick, may bo used, but everything included, the total weight must not exceed 28ozs. The extremity of the stick must not bo cut square, or pointed, but must have rounded edges. Note— Surgical binding on the head of the stick is allowed, subject to its not preventing the head passing through a 2in. ring. . Rule 11. Oii-sidc—The words "he may not play the ball" have been added before the words "nor in any way interfere with any other player, etc." Rule 15. Free hit.—Additional sentence "should, however, the umpire consider that a player is standing within syds. to gain lime, he shall not slop the game." Rule 10. Penalty bully—A penally bully shall be played by the offender, and by any player selected by the other team, on the spot where the breach occurred. All other players shall be beyond the nearer 25yds. line in the field of play and shall not. cross such' 25yds. line or take any further part in the game until the penalty bully is completed. If, during the progress of a penalty bully, the ball goes over any part of the goal-line other than that between the goal-posts, off the stick or person of the offender, the penalty bully shall be taken again.. If the ball goes over the goal-line between the goal-posts, off the stick or person of the offender, a penalty goal shall be awarded to the attacking team. In all other ca c es. as soon as the ball has passed wholly over the goal-line (not between the goal-posts) or oulside tho striking circle, the game shall be restarted by a. bully on the centre of tho nearer 25yds. line. Rules 10 and 20. Corner and penalty corner.—The following addition to penalties: "If the player to whom the corner is hit out, without attempting to stop the hall, takes a flying hit. at goal, the iimpiro shall award a free hit to the defending team"
TE ARO SAILING CLUB. At the Boat IJ.irbour last evening a t'lnimittcD mculiiis' of Die To Aro Sailing Club was held, 'rliero was a fair attendance of members and Air. C. J. Ward presided. Among those present were two members ul Hie ll.civlaunga Boating Ciub (.Messrs. Brown and M'Douald). Before the meeting commenced, a special meeting was held for the purpose of discussing the retailing the race for 'I he inter-club challenge cup. JI had been arranged that the race should lake place last Saturday, but owing to a misunderstanding no boats from the northern shore turned up, and so the To Aro Club's boats raced alone. After some discussion it was moved by Mr. ]•'. Ccoke that, the race be resailed on Saturday, March 25. This motion was seconded by Mr. M'Uonnld and carried. It was moved that the secretaries of each club should act as a postponement committee, in tho event of tho weather not being suitable for holding tho race. It vcas also decided that (whatever club won the cup) the defeated club should present: the winners with a pennant. At the ordinary committee meeting it was decided to resail last Saturday's race. The club ladies' race-will take place on April 1. To-morrow the club will hold its ocean race, which is to commence at 2.15 p.m. The course will be from the starting line to Halswell Buoy, then to Koro Koro Buoy, and from there home. A complaint was made by members of the club that tho sail area limit had been exceeded by a member of the club. After (ho club's measurers had measured the sails, it was found that the measurement did exceed the limit. It was decided to write to the owner informing him thnt the measurements had exceeded tho club's limit.
