Mackenzie in Dunedin. the Hon. It. M'Kcnzie in tho Bay of Plentv. and the Hon. A. T. Ngata on the East Coast. Mr. A. L. Herdman, M.P. for Wellington North, has accepted an invitation to deliver a political address at Wanganui. Next Friday is the date selected. Dr. Ewart's medical attendants report (hat, as compared with the previous week, he spent a restful day yesterday, and that his condition is somewhat improved. Bishop Wallis, who is returning to England, will leave Wellington by the Arawa on April 20. He will be accompanied bv Mrs. Wallis. Dr. Gabites, of Timarii, who was sur-geon-major in the Seventh New Zealand Contingent, intends leaving for London by the Karamea which sails from Auckland to-morrow week. Sergeant-Major Martin, of the Wellington Navals, one of the Coronation Contingent, intends leaving for London next week by the Corinthic. Captain Klingender, another member of the contingent, will leave by the Arawa on April 20. .Mr. T. Burke, woolbroker, is'about to pay a visit to the Old Country. He will leave Wellington on March 23 by the Corinthic. Mrs. H. D. Crawford and Mr. J. Crawford, of Wellington, will also leave by the same vessel. Mr. G. Morris, managing partner of Messrs. Murray, Roberts, and Co., Napier, will be a passenger for London by the Corinthic. Dr. T. Copeland Savage, of Auckland, intends leaving for London by the Corinthic on March 23. Dr. H. O. Jones, of Auckland, will also be a passenger by the same stcanlcr. Mr. Maginnity, a well-known member of the legal profession, who has on previous occasions been unable to accede to requests to contest the Nelson seat, has again been asked to come forward as a candidate. Mr. Maginnity has promiseeto give the matter his consideration. Lieutenant W. M. Turnbull and Lieutenant Standish, who are going Homo for training' at Sandhurst, will leave Wellington by the Corinthic next. * week. Colonel Abbott, who is also going Home for training, has booked his passage by the Arawa, which sails on April 20. Captain Seddon is going Home via Australia. Mr. .Tohn Richards, formerly of the Public Works Department, and ■ subsequently in the City Council service, who arrived ,in Wellington forty-five years ago, intends to revisit the Old Country, after an absence of sixty years. Mr. lliehords's chief object in going Home is to see his son (Mr.'John F. Richards), who has been studying at Guy's Hospital. Mr. Jackson Falmor, Chief Judge of the Native Land Court, who has not been enjoying the best of health of -late, is leaving for Sydney by the Ulimaroa today, en route for England. He will bo absent from New Zealand for about six months. Dr. E. D. Mackellar, of Auckland, who has been on a short visit to Wellington, leaves for the north by the Main Trunk express this morning. The members of the Wellington South District Cricket Club foregathered on Wednesday evening for'the purpose of making a presentation to one of its most popular members, Mr. Percy. H. Smith, who recently joined the Tnnks of the benedicts. The presentation took the form of a handsome oak occasional table bearing an inscription on a. silver plate, accompanied by the best wishes of the club for Mr. and' Mrs. Smith's future happiness and prosperity. Mr. P. C. Corliss, Commissioner of Stamps, who returned on Wednesday from a business visit to tho West Coast and the South Island, left for Auckland yesterday afternoon. Mr. J. D. Ritchie,. chairman of the Land Purchase Board, left yesterday afternoon for Auckland on Departmental business. Gazette- notices stato that the meritorious service medal has been awarded to Staff Sergeant-Major William Hoar, New Zealand Permanent Staff; the colonial auxiliary forces officers' decoration to Acting-Major William Henry Foden, South" Canterbury Battalion of Infantry for 20 years' service; and the colonial auxiliary forces long-service medal to Gunner Frank Keenan, No. 2 Company, Otago Division New Zealand Garrison Artillery (20 years' service), and Sergeant Thomas Mur'phv, Christchurch City Guards Rifles (20 years). The following appointments are gazetted:—Mr. M. Eraser, Government Statistician; Mr. J. Samuel, w.b.o is leaving today for London, was tendered a farewell by the members of the Commercial Travel, lers' Club at the clubhouse last night. A very pleasant evening was spent, and Mr. Samuel was handed a gold sovereign case as a token of tho cst«em in which ho is held by his fellow-members. An excellent musical programme was contributed by Messrs. A. W. Newton, R. T. Robertson, G. B. Exley, E. Atmore, Farquhar. Young (Dunedin), A. Mee, and A. M. Samue't. 1 Brigadier Bray, who has been in charge of the social work in connection with the Salvation Army in New Zealand for a number of years, leaves for Sydney en route for England to-day by tho Ulimaroa for the purpose of attending tho Salvation Army Congress to commence its sittings in London on May 15, At the congress, which will last three weeks, Brigadier Bray will, read a- paper on the treatment, of inebriates in New Zealand. The Brigadier has been an officer of the Salvation Army since 1883, and since 1887 has been connected with the social section of the work. He will leave London again for New Zealand towards the end of June. During Brigadier Bray's absence his i duties will be performed by Major Tooluor, now in charge ot tho People's Palace, Auckland. Mr. J. E. Dodd, M.L.C., of Western Australia, a member of the Labour party, and secretary of the Kalgoorlie and Boulder Miners' Union, who has been on a visit to New Zealand, will leave for Sydney by the Ulimaroa to-day. Mr. .las. Williams has been appointed to the Wanganui Hospital Board as representative of Wanganui and Wanganui East. Mr. J. Graham. M.P. for Nelson, was in Wellington yesterday. He left for Fcilding by the Main Trunk express. A Press Association message states that amongst the passengers by tho Arawa, due from llobart on Monday, is Mr. Samuel Turner, F.K.G.S. He is en route for New Zealand on n mountaineering trip. During the voyage he put up a world's skipping record in order to keep himself in climbing trim. Mr. John Fuller, sen., of the theatrical firm of Fuller and Sons, is a visitor to Wellington. The Rev, Adolph Treitel Chodowski (Hebrew congregations) .is gazetted an officiating minister under tne Marriage Act,
