(By Telegraph-Special Correspondent.) Wanganui, March 16. The Wanganui Hospital Board has lot a tender to Mr. W. Knuckey. for .IM2G3 for the construction of the new operating theatre. In addition to both tho Borough Councils, and both the County Councils, and both the Town Boards, tho Waiinariuo County Council has also been cited as a party to tho inquiry which Mr. W. S. Short is to hold into matters affecting the maintenance and control of the Wanganui Town Bridge, with a view to arriving at a more equitable distribution of the cost of same than obtains at present, and by which tho whole expense is thrown on Hie Wanganui Boroug-h and Count.v Councils. It had been 'intended to hold tho inquiry next week, but, as that lias been found unsuitable, the date has been [ postponed till May 2. I The Hon. K. M'lunzic came, down the I river yesterday from Pipiriki to Ahuahu, where he landed and rode through the Valley Road. lie spent the night at a settler's house, and to-day came on to Kai Iwi, taking note of tho road and bridge requirements en route. ' To-night he. reached Waitotara, and will inspect the needs of that district to-morrow. Some.doubt was felt as to whether the Borough Council could legally hold a poll in connection with the loan for the new bridge at I lie general municipal election next month, and in order that a valid poll might he held the Marino Department (under whose authority (he river :>t Hint point is) was asked \,i v .-;- pedite the issuing of an authorising order. Word was received yesterday that the necessary Order-in-Council, authority to construct the bridjte, ha 3 beon issued, and that the poll cau, therefore, be held on April 26,
