CURIOUS LIBEL ACTION.

Mrs. Barton, a tomperanco lecturer, has obtained a verdict for .£5 damages for libel against the newspaper "Fairplay," which stated that she had given a woman brandy. The plaintiff, on being cross-examined, said she could not givo a dying child, brandy, oven though instructed-to do so ,1 by a doctor. | Mr. Justice Pring declared that in that, case she would ba guilty of manslaughter. ■
