FESTIVAL OF EMPIRE.
OFFICIAL PROGRAMME. The official programmo for tho Festival.of Empire sports meeting, which .-is to extend over two days during the Coronation celebrations -in London, has been. received by, Mr. A. Marryatt, chairman of the local Festival Committee. Tho programmo comprises the following events;—l2oyds. Hurdles, 100 yds., 220 yds., 880 yds.,. and. mile. Hat. championships, 100 yds. and mile swimmjng championships, tennis singles, middle-weight wrestling, and heavyweight boxing. A cheque for £10 10s. towards the fund.has been received from the Wellington Swimming Association, and a cheque for £2 .10s. Gd. from the New Plymouth Tennis Club, per Dr. ' Leatliam. Private advice received from Christchur'ch states that an effort is being made there to raiso sufficient funds to send Opie to the big sports meeting.
