THE CORONATION EXHIBITION.

AS DIG AS THE LAST. "Do you know," said Mr. Thos. Ballinger to a Dominion representative yesterday, "that thero will be as much space in the Coronation Exhibition as thero was in the one held on the reclamation? That is a fact—if anything there will be a little more when everything is fixed up!" Tho last exhibition was erected on the block of then newly-reclaimed land now occupied by the Public Library, Education Board, and Town Hall, but it was all on tho one floor, whereas "U" Shed has a fine broad gallery extending its full length, and "J" Shed has a gallery, and a full floor above that again, which space, if spread out, would cover a very big area of ground. Since our last report, tho General Manager of Railways has been approached for permission to erect a iiro escape (staging and steps), extending over tho railway lino that runs beside the "J" Shed, arid it is practically certain that ways and means will bo effected to enable the fino third floor of that shed to be used for exhibition purposes.

Tho Music and Entertainments Committee have written to Messrs. M. Barnett and R. Parker, inquiring if arrangements can be made for the societies of which they are the respective conductors to give performances (hiring the exhibition. It is calculated that tho Concert Hall will seat 150(1, and that tho acoustics will leavo nothing to bo desired.

The Defence Department is to make a display of small arms, ancient and modern, and Lieutenant-Colonel W. Duthie has been written to informing him of tho suitability of the ton floor of "J" Shed for military displays and competitions.

So far 9264 superficial feet have been let to exhibitors, leaving 773G feet to l;o let. (a certain quantity of which is already besooken).
