Sollitt Brothers has been accepted for the erection cif the new produce hall on the l'almerstoii show grounds, tlio price being .£978. At the Police Court to-day, John Lcnhmy was fined 405., and cos-ts, with the alternative of It days' imprisonment, for breach of a prohibition order. MagBio Attwood was granted a separation order from her husband, John Attwood, and was given the custody of two children. Defendant was ordered to pay .£1 per week towards the maintenance of his wife and children. ■Mr. Jorgen Voss, of Kairanga, a settler of over forty years' standing in this district, was found ' dead in bed yesterday morning. Mr. Voss had been suffering from an affection of the heajt for some time. Dereasetl was a nafcjyo of Denmark, and was G3 years of age. Ho was highly esteemed in the district, being recognised as one of our sterling pioneers. He leaves a widow and a grown-up family of four sons and a daughter. Mr. Christian Voss (for several years chairman of the Kairanga County Council) and Mr. Max Voss were, brothers of deceased. The local corps of the Salvation Army held special services in the barracks yesterday, the extension campaign being carried on. There were largo attendances at all tho services. The Technical School cadets are making arrangements for their annual camp, which' is to b= held shortly. Tho corps will hold a picnic on the Hokowhitu range on Easter Monday, when shooting and sports will be indulged in. ' The secretary of tho Dairy Workers' Union, Mr. J. Robertson, has been spending somo time in Taranaki. \ meeting of those interested in horticulture is to be held this week, with tho object of endeavouring to put the local Horticultural Society on a sounder financial basis. The society has held somo excellent shows, but the paucity of attendance of the public has left the finances anything but satisfactory. Tho Challenge Shield, won by the Linton Rifle Club, at the recent rifle meeting at Trcntham, is on , view in the window of a local shop. The Linton Rifle Club has a number of Palmortton riflemen in its ranks, and they are justly proud of tho achievements of its members on live Tientham range.
