Residents of tho city noticed a big glare in the 'sky in the direction of Karon about 9 o'clock last night, and it was conjectured that a big fire- was raging in that suburb. _ The conflagration was not, however, cjnite so serious as it appeared to be, (hough it resulted in tho total destruction cf a five-roomed cottags. The Northland Fire Brigade attended to render help, hut there was, of course, no water supply to help them &o far as tho building itself was concerned. It was an untenanted house, owned by Mr. J. Burns, of (ho Government Printing Office, who resides next door.
