FIRE AT KARORI.
Residents of tho city noticed a big glare in the 'sky in the direction of Karon about 9 o'clock last night, and it was conjectured that a big fire- was raging in that suburb. _ The conflagration was not, however, cjnite so serious as it appeared to be, (hough it resulted in tho total destruction cf a five-roomed cottags. Tho scene of the fire was just p.'ist the. Karori Cemetery, near the original terminus of the tram line. When tho outbreak was discovered t?t" flames had a good hold, and as the building was an old one there was no hope of sarin? it. The Northland Fire Brigade attended to render help, hut there was, of course, no water supply to help them &o far as tho building itself was concerned. It was an untenanted house, owned by Mr. J. Burns, of (ho Government Printing Office, who resides next door.
