MEETING OF GENERAL COMMITTEE. The monthly meeting of tho■ General Committeo of the Masterton A. and P. Association was held on Saturday last, there being present: Messrs. W. Perrv (chairman), J. C. M'Jvillop, W. J. Welch", H. Morrison,'. C. F. Vallance, 'J. B. Mbodiej A. G. Pilrner, W. H. Buick, E. J. Perry, TV V. Lett, E. Harper, J. P. Perry, G. C. Summerell, G. E...Allen, J. James, B. Rayner, J. Strang, -D. Caselberg, D. C. Cooper, W. Cooper, W. I). Watson, 'it. Gray, A. J. Percy, and G. H.-Shaw. A communication.. was received from Mr. £. Hall, secretary of the New Zealand Agricultural Conference, asking that delegates bo" "appointed and remits prepared for the next;, annual., conference, to be held-in August.' 1 A-committeo consisting of the president and Messrs. I). M'Gregor, jun., and H. Morrison, was set up to. prepare remits and report to tho next "meeting. Mr. T. E. Sedgwick offered to give a lecture under tho auspices of the association on. the question of ' boy immigration. On the motion of Mr. Summerell, the offer of Mr. Sedgwick was received with thanks, and it was regretted that the association could not avail itself of the: 'offer;"-'.-.-'. ■■■-.-..;;;• ::^.,v.. A letter was read from his Excellency the Governor expressing his appreciation of his day's visit to the show. "I should like," lie said, "to congratulate the association once more on the possession of such charming and suitable grounds which I am sure, in the come, will add much to the prestigeTa'u'd utility, of the association in their, efforts to promote the welfare of agriculture. Tho show was undoubtedly a great success in every .way, both in. point of quantity- and quality of stocTc ■■■ShF* exhibits. I am indeed glad to feel that the energy and practical effort of yourself and colleagues lias realised so great an encouragement in this, your first year's venture." nis Excellency concluded by wishing the association every success. A. letter was read from the General Manager of Railways asking if the accommodation at the new siding at Solway was .satisfactory, and if any alterations were considered necessary.' A committee was set' up to report. -' In moving the adoption of the report the chairman of tho committee stated that it was proposed to improve the entrance to the ram fair ring before, tho next show, A report pres'eivteci' by" the secretary showed the receipts, on account of the recent show to have amounted to ,£1855 Ids. and the expenditure to .£1836 17s. Bd., leaving a credit of .£lB 18s. 4d. The ram fair showed a profit of .£92 ss. Id., and the luncheon a profit of-,£91 15s. Id. :'.- Mr. J. B. Moodie, as chairman of the Finance. Committee, briefly reviewed the., receipts, and .'expenditure for ,the show,' and stated that it was hoped next year they would be able to effect numerous savines and make a more substantial profit. He did not think that the financial position would be regarded as other than satisfactory. It was proposed to raise a flat -rriortirasp of J24000 on the ground. They would then have to Work on a guaranteed overdraft. It was thought that the limit of this overdraft would have to be .£3llOO. After further discussion a motion for the adoption of the report was carried.
