Tho weather and the wicket- were perfcct, and tlio attendance numbered about ISOO.
Hill won tho toss, and Mayne and Dolling opened to the bowling of Llewellyn and Sinclair. Runs came steadily, and, at 25, Schwarz went on in pljco of Llewellyn. In his second over he got Mayne. One for 42. Hill partnered Dolling, and fifty appeared after forty-five minutes' batting. Llewellyn then relieved Sinclair, and Dolling was easily stumped at 70. Ho had played a good innings. Geiirs played a balj on at 73. Hill had completed 50 for sixty-four minutes 1 play. was steady. Just bofore the tea adjournment Hill pulled a, ball ou. Ho had batted scvcnty-oiio minutes, his score including only clo fourer. Four for 145.
The scores wore:—Mayne, 15; Dolling, 45; Hill, 54; Gehrs, 2; Crawford, not out 28.
