' 'A QUEENSLAND POLITICIAN. By TelesrapS—Press Association—Oopyrißht (Rec. March 10, 11 p.m.) Brisbano, March 10. The death is announced of the Hon. J, T. Bell, Speaker of the Queensland Legislative Assembly.'
The Hon. Joshua Thomas Bell, M.L.A., was born at Ipswich, Queensland, in 1663, and was a son of Sir J. P. Bell, a former President of tho Queensland Legislative Council. After completing his education at Cambridge University, he was called to the bar at tho Inner Temple. Ho returned to Queensland in 3889, and in the' following; year became private secretary to the -Prime Minister, Sir Samuel Griffith. In 1893 ho- was elected, to the ..Legislative Assembly,. becoming Chairman of Committees in 1902, and Minister for Public Works in 1903.
