To-day.—Races for first, second, and third-class yachts. Wednesday, March 15.—1'.N.Y.C. Conccrt. Easter Monday.—P.N.Y.C. Picnic.

The Ocean Racc. The Port Nicholson Yacht Club's ocean racc, which was held last week, evidently bestirred some of the. old yachting sports, as tho crowd which gathered to tee the departure of the yachts showed. An error appeared in tho report of the race last Monday, it being Mated thut the. Viking arrived at Port Underwood first. It should have rear] that tho White Heather arrived first. The "ITcalhcr" picked up the course soon after passing Sinclair Head, enabling her to arrive at Port Underwood ahead of the others.

Seen From the Mark Boat. The following is a report given by Mr. Jackson, whoso launch Taniwha acted as mark boat:—AYe left tho Boat Harbour at 12.15 p.m. on Saturday, and experienced a head sea oil tho way over, arriving at Guards Cove at 6 p.m. We dropped anchor in tho cove, and showed lights, and at 8.53 p.m. tho "neather" rounded us, followed at 10.30 p.m. by the Viking. The sea being very heavy_ tho yachts decided to stop for tho night. Early nest morning we went out _ with tho crew of the Viking to seo if wo could make out any of tho other boats, but failed to pick them up. At 0 o'clock, however, we went out again, and saw Ngaira coming up, making splendid weather in tho heavy sea. Mr. Guard and family entertained the crow of tho Taniwha early in the evening. Mr. Jackson states that, if he had come prepared, ho could easily have made a bonfire on the northern entrance so as to enable the yachts to pick up the entrance.

General, Fleet Notes. The now owner of Waitangi, Mr. Gibbs, has had her launched, and was out for a spin on Tuesday last. The crew of the Patronus will man her.

The Ptitronus has been launched, and is at her moorings in Evnns Bay. The yacht Muritai roturnod to port last , Tuesday after a fortnight's cruiso in Queen Charlotto Sound. Bad weather prevailed most of the time, and this, to somo extent, spoilt the general enjoyment. When it was not raining it was .blowing, and the crew were kept busy looking after their anchors. When they left for home, however, it was fine, and a flat 'calm, and sweeps wcro used for a good part of the journey. Tho yawl Windward, which started in tlio ocean race, finished last Tuesday, after a trip across tho ■ Strait occupying 30 hours.

A concert is to be held at the pavilion, Day's Bay, on Wednesday next, under the auspices of the Port Nicholson Yacht Club,

This afternoon the P.N.Y.C. will hold races, for first, second, and third-class ■yachts. i The race for' the Inter-Club Challenge Cup, between tho Te Aro Sailing Club and the Horetaunga Boating Club, will take place this afternoon. Tho raco will bo over a course at this side of tho harbour.

Oversea Notes. RaivhUi gave another fine exhibition of her racing capabilities in the race for the Kawhiti Cup (says tho Sydney "Arrow").. presented by her owners to the Prince Alfred Yacht Club, on tho condition that it be wen three times by the same owner. After conceding Cul'wulla 111 a start of 'three minutes, Einvhiti opened out a lead of lmin 24scc. • from her on the thrash to Manly. Catching the'last of the long-starters on the work down to tlio Pile-light, tho Eawhiti ultimately finished 4«min. ahead of Sunbeam,, -which' secure'di .sepond place from Ciilwulla 111 by 4,55,ec.; resistance of the Prince' - Alfred'Tacht : Clirb," the raco for tho "Basin" Cup, took placo recently (says tho Sydney "Referee"). Six yachts started in the race—Eawhiti scratch, Culwulla 111 9min., Petrel and Yeulba 52 min., Fleetwing 65min., and Aom.; 67min. As they crossed the line to a flying start the tide was ebb, and the br'cczo light from N.W., The race resulted in a win for Petrel, with Yeulba second.
