TRAGEDY IN A TUNNEL.
NAVVIES' TERRIBLE FATE. By Telegraph—Press Association—Oopyrißfot.(Rec. March 9, 10.20 p.m.) Paris, March. 9. A shocking accident occurred in. a railway tunnel at .Vincennes, just outside l'aris. Twenty navvies were working in. the tunnel, and crossed the lino to escape an up-train, and the smoke and noiso prevented them from detecting: that the down, train was on the other line. Half tlio gang threw themselves flat between the- lines, but tho oncoming engine swept the rest away. Two men were killed, and eight desperately wounded, somo of them beyond hope of recovery.
