« ' NEW INSPECTOR. Since the transfer of Inspector Kiely. from Thames to Christcliurch, the Thames police district has been in charge of Sub-Inspector A. H. Wright, and ■under the control of Inspector Cnllcn, oi Auckland. Keccntlj; it \va9 announced that Cabinet hod decided to continuo Thames, as a separate police district in charge of an inspector. As generally anticipated, Hub-Inspector Wright has been promoted to full rank, and retains charge. The new inspector joined the force in 1882, and, for somo years, filled the position of' district clerk at Wellington. In 18!)S he was promoted to tho rank of sergeant, and - subsequently succeeded Mr. Taskcr as chief clerk in the head office hero. lis was made a subinspector in IDOG, and, when tho head office staff was reorganised, he was given charge of the Thames district.
