Messrs. Dalgety and cSo. report: At the Wanganui sale yesterday wo yarded 5100 slioep and 165 cattlc. The yarding of sheep was of poor Quality, consisting chiefly of full-mouthed ewes. of poor class and in low condition, for which the demand was (lull, and we only succeeded in placing 2680, pr:cc3 being below those ruling at recent sale 3. Cattle were duller of sale than usual, tho bulk of tho yarding going out unsold. V/o quote Forward wethers, 13s. Dalgety and Co., Ltd.. report having held their fortnightly sale at Waipukurau on Tuesday, when they offered 5500 shc-ep and a small yarding of cattle to a good attendance. Kidding" all round was good, most of the yarding being sold at satisfactory pricce. A' very nice lino of 200 two-tooth Komney ewes, by Mr. Short's rams, realised.l7s. 9d., and.were purchased by Mr. Lewis, of Makaretu. Dalgety and .Company, Limited (Palmerston North branch) report:—At our monthly sale held at Jiaumai oil Tuesday, there was a good yarding of sheep and.-a fair entry of cattlc, the whole of which, with the exception of two lines, changing hands at prices as below:—Small mixed lambs, 3s. At our Tfuntervillc sale held on Tuesday a very good entry of sheep and a small yarding of cattle came to hand. A large number of inferior sheep were yarded, and. for these, bidding was lifeless. Messrs. Abraham and Williama Tcport: Tho Masterton Associated Auctioneers offered a lull yarding of sheep, our entry comprising 3CIO sheep of various sorts. The entry of cattlo was small, only a lew pens being submitted. Messrs. Abraham aud "Williams, Ltd.. roport:—On Monday we held a most success ful clearing sale'for Mr. D. Gardner, of Shannon. The cows were a choice lot, and sold at prices ranging from £7 to £13 10s.' A good average of £9 per head was realised. At Waikanac, on Tuesday, we yarded just on £000 sheep. All sorts were easier, and we had a sale. Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., held their I'ahiatua stock sale in the farmers' Association's yards on Tuesaay, when a heavy yarding of sheep was onered. Lambs, both local'and those from a distance, were weaker in price. Two-tooth ewes made 12s. dd. to 13s. 6d.; good four-tooths, lfe. :Tbo yarding of fat lambs showed an increase on the previous week, and a very largo proportion were not well finished, limny lots being only in forward store condition. Export buyers were operating, as well as a couple of speculators. Prices were, however, decidedly easier,'the decline ranging from 6d. to 9d., and in some cases up to Is. per head. The export buyers were operating on a baste'of 4£jd. up to 421b. and 4£d. for over and second duality. There was a dccline of Is. to Is. 3d. per head, tegs making 15s. to 16s. and ordinary weights, lCs. 3d.'to 14s. ICd. Out of the 141 lots'bought by exporter 66 were sold under 135., '55 ■ under Ks., and 20 at 14s. and over. Butchers' lots made lis. 3d. to 15s. 3d., and passed-in lotG at lis. ICd. to 13s. lOd. Soine of the passed-in lots .were afterwards purchased by exporters for lew money than was bid at -auction, and others were seat to the factory on owners'.account. There was a fairly large yarding of fat sheep, the' bulk being ewes. There was a poor celectioii of wethers, comparatively few lots being well finished, but tliey sold quite up to last week's prices. Ewes, ou the other hand, were decidedly easier, especially the aged and badly-conditioned lots, the dccline being fully is. per head, as compared with the previous week. The ratifro of prices was: Prime wethers, 16a. to I 85.; lighter, 12s. to 15s. 6d.; prime ewes, 13s. to -15s. 9d.; medium', lCs. to 12s. 6d.; aged and light, 7s. to 9s.' 6d,; merino wethers lCs. Id. There were only 242 head of fat cattle penned, or 98 less than the previous week. The quality was uneven, but in view of the short supply there was a more active competition, and values improved to the extent of about 2s. per 1001b. Steers made 15s. to £10 lCs., and estra to £12 5?.; lioifnrs, £5 15s. to £9 55.; and cows, £5 to £11 7«. 6d.; coual to 275. fid. to 31s. fid. for prime, 255. to 275. for medium, and 225. to 245. fid. for.cow and inferior per lOClb. ; Veal calves made 4s. 6d. to 525., accordmi? to size and quality. There was a fair yarding of store cattle, and though they Were chiefly of poor quality there was better demand, and most of the entry changed ' hands, yearlings making 225. to 2?5.; fifteen to eighteenmonths, 40s. to 525.; two-year steers, £3 Cs. to £4 Bs.: two-year heifers, £3 IPs.; three-year heifers. £4 to £4 95.; and dry cows. 355. to £4 2s. Dairy cows sold at £3 10*. to £8 2s. fid.
There was a largo yarding of fat. pies, tp which the dennnd was not equal, and prices for ' all sorts showed a decline. Choppers made up to £4. i argn baconers, 475. fid. to 550.; and smaller, 375. to 455. (equal to 4d. per lb.); largo porker:*. 30s. to 345.; and smaller. 225. to 275. Large stores were in demand, but other descrint.ions were neglccted. Large stores made 275. to 30s. 6d.; medium. 2te. to 2fis.; smallei\ IPs. to 18s.; and weaners, 2s. fid, to 7s. 6d.
