MINES COMMISSION.
(Br Tclccrarh.-Spccial CorrcfiDondont.) Auckland, March 6. Sir Joseph Ward (the Prime Minister 1 ) informed a "Herald" representative last night that the Mines Commission had been rendered necessary, by the many representations that lino been made from several parts of the Dominion, attributing sickness to defective sanitary or von. tilatine arrangements in the mines. Tin assertions blaming' the ordinary facilities were contradicted in other quarters, and tho commission would, it was hoped, clear tho matter up, and enable the Government to ascertain the position generally, and make provision for dealing with it in a proper way.
