A SAD STORY. EXTRAORDINARY SENSATION IN ITALY. us Teleerarh—Press Association—OoDyrHHl Rome, March 3. Tho Sicilian Countess Giulia Trigone (a Lady-in-Waiting to the Royal Court), who was killed with a hunting-knife by Baron Vincent l'atcrno (also a Sicilian), who afterwards grievously wounded him£elf with a revolver, had resolved to cease her illicit relations with Patcrno and devote herself to her three children. Paterno resented this decision, which supplied the motivo for the tragedy, which occurred in the private room of a hotel, where the woman had met the man by appointment. Later. Paterno is now out of danger. Tho tragedy caused an extraordinary sensation in Rome, Florence, and Palermo, where both parties were prominent. Paterno was in financial straits, and demanded money from the Countess, who refused his request and announced that she was severing her connection with him.
GRIEF IN COURT CIRCLES. (Rec. March 5, 5.5 p.m.) Rome, March i. Queen Elena is taking care of Countess Trigona's two daughters. Paterno is described as a gambler and blackmailer. Countess Trigona was little more than a girl, and had been induced to pay Paterno's debts until the extortions developed into a scandal, comnelling her retirement from a brilliant position at the Quirinal. Tho tragedy has caused much grief in Court circles.
