Last night the Theatre Royal was packed to the doors, and people wero standing all round the auditorium. Tho present programme is one of tlio best that has been produced "by Messrs. Fuller and Sons for some considerable time past. Botli new and old favourites wero very well received, and among the latter Maudo Fanning and her thrco little assistants were recalled again and again. "Hassan," alleged by tho management to be tho descendant of a family of Hassans whoso secrets have been handed down from generation to generation for 500 years, mado his first appearance last night. He is a magician pure and simple, and some of liis tricks are capital ones. What "litli fire-eating, sleight-of-hand work, and various other forms of witchcraft, 110 holds his audienco very well. The concluding part of his performance, when 110 lifted xi stone- weighing 621b. weight with his eyelids, took tlio house completely by storm. Another new appearance was that of Will Dagmar, an end-man full of comic specialties. Tonight the ranks of the new performers will~still further bo increased, by tho appearance of "The Two Williamsons," who are billed as specialty artists direct from Sydney. HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. "A-hunting wo will go!" The merry old English lilt is typified in a charming series of fox-hunting pictures that are at present being exhibited at His Majesty's Theatre. There is lifo and action in tho lissembling of the meet, and the blood is set dancing in the vein's as tho field follows tho racing hounds 011 a strong scent. The pictures are splendidly taken, and lose nothing in the reproduction. Another good picture is that of the cormorantfishers of Zero Island, Japan. It is probably tho simplest and most productive method of fishing next to the trawl net. A string is passed under the wings of the birds and round their necks below the gullet, with tlio end held by a man in tlio bow of the canoe. 111 this manner a dozen birds are handled by tho 0110 man. As soon as a bird dives and secures a fish, 110 is hauled back to tho boat, tho fish is squeezed out of tlio gullet and tho cormorant is thrown into the water onco more. In this manner tlio fish aro caught as rapidly as the man is able to liandlo them, and a few minutes' sport means a big creel of ; fish. In tlio picture a whole flotilla of ungainly canoes, each with a covey of cormorants, is seen actively engaged in the industry which plays a largo part in the food supply of Japan. Other good pictures to bo seen at His Majesty's are two very good "A.8." studies entitled, "Effecting a Cure" and "Tho Child's Stratagem," "A Leap for Lifo" (dramatip), and "Littlo Willie Goes Cycling." There will "be a matinee this afternoon. KING'S THEATRE. Last night a largo audience found excellent entertainment in tlio good programme of pictures which is being presented at tho King's Theatre this week. Tho usual prize matineo will take place this afternoon and the same programmo will bo shown this evening. A complete change is promised for Monday evening. MISS KATHERINE GREY.
