AUSTRALIAN DEFENCE.

ADMIRAL HENDERSON'S INSPECTION. By rclceratih—Press Association—OopyrlEhi Melbourne, March 3. At a farewell luncheon to Admiral Sir 1?. Henderson, who has just concluded an inspection of and reported on Australian ports as' sites for naval bases, Senator PoarcoJ Federal Defence Minister, declared that Admiral Henderson had fulfilled his mission thoroughly. His report would bear out the highest traditions of the British naval service. Tlio Admiral, in reply, said that ho had been greatly impressed with Australia's futuro outlook. Th© keynote, of his report was that any action which attacked tho sea power of the Empire was. inimical to Australia and tho whole Empire. Ho had gathered that this idea would bo carried into effect.

Tho messago is inserted as received •from the Press Association. The agent's condensation of what tho Admiral said is not very illuminating.
