Tbo Prime Minister (Sir Joseph Ward) last evening received a cablegram from the Hon. Mr. M'Gowen, Premier of New South Wales, as follows:—"Mr. M'Farlano, ControllerGeneral of Prisons, visits New Zealand to report on tree-planting by prisoners, also employment consumptives at camp, and treatment of inebriates by State. Sir. M'Fariano proposes leaving here in Moldavia reaching Auckland March 17. Will you kindly give facilities for inquiries, and also for him to stay at camps?" Sir Joseph Ward replied that every facility will ho given Mr. M'Fariano to enablo him to make his mission satisfactory.
