N.Z. CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING.
OPENING DAY TO-MORROW. Tho latest returns give tho number of entries for the championship rifle meeting, which commences to-morrow 'morning, as 574—a record. Last year . there were 571, with 22 Australian entries. It is fully expected that there will be at least 580 on tho mounds when firing commences. Chamnions are renresented by Ching, Milroy, Duncan, Halfiday, George Hyde, R. J. King, Captain King, Irvine, Ross, Patrick, Shaw, Sandford, and others. Tho Okawa Rifle Club, of Hawke's Bay, has a strong team in for tho teams' match—Arthur Hyde, Humphries, AVellwood, and Tonge. " The Karori Club is sending 22 representatives, and Opaki, Weber, and Christchurch are all represented in good numbers . • Widespread sympathy has been extended to Colonel I(. J. Collins, Chief Executive Officer of tho Association, in his recent family bereavement. It is hoped, however, that he will be able to be present at the meeting.
