LICENSING COMMITTEE.

THE QUARTERLY MEETING,

Tho quarterly meeting of the committee of . the Wellington Licensing District was held at the Magistrate's Court at noon yesterday. Dr. M'Arthur, S.M., presided, and there were also present Messrs, J. Smith, E. J. Petherick, G. W. Wilton, G-i'TUler, and W. J. Ilelyer. Inspector LlllsAn representee! the police. The following transfers were passed:— Post Office Hotel, M. M'Vinish and ,T. A. Iripe to M. M'Vinish Olr. J. J. M'Grath); Cricketers' Arms. Hotel, C. A.Harrison to J. T. Foley (Mr. Tripe); New Zealauder Hotel, M. J. Donnellv to C. M'Manus (Mr. J. J. M'Grath); 'Citv Hotel,,W. G. Emcny to J. J. Firth; Albert Hotel, George Evans to J. M'Donald; Commercial Hotel, H. S. A. Clench to Mrs. F. JI. Paulsen. Mr. A. Fair (Chapman, Skerrett, Wylie, aud Tripp) appeared, in support of the last thrco applications. ... •

An application for the transfer of the Royal. Hotel from G. F. Farr to R. Dwyer. was withdrawn at the request of Mr. J. J. M'Grath.

An application for the transfer of the license of the Shamrock Hotel from Mr?. M. Cooper to P. il'llvride was adjourned until the next quarterly meeting of the committee, the hotel in the meantime to bo conducted by Mrs. M'llvrido. Mr. P. W. Jackson appeared for the applicant.
