ADDRESSES TO THE KING AND THE GOVERNOR. BIBLE TERCENTENARY. (By TeleirraDh—Pross Association.) Christchurch, March 1. Tho Methodist Conference to-day dealt with reports of educational institutions, foreign missions', and theological institutions. ■ ■ An address to.his Majesty Kins George V and one to his Excellency Lord Islington were adopted. The conference,, in its address to the Jung, states that it desires to convev.to his Majesty and the.Eoval Family its profound- sympathy in the. death of King Edward. The address goes 011 to say that a visit, of. his Majesty and' Quee- Mary still lives in memories of New Zealanders. Tho conference hails with satisfaction. his Majesty's accession, and desires to express its unabated loyalty .to the Throne. It also trusts that his Majesty's reign will be long and-happy and prosperous, and that during its course ike peace of the world may bo undisturbed. ,• . . ,In the. address to liis Excellency the Governor". the conferenco assures-him of its respect for himself and of its. loyalty to tho Throne, and trusts that his term of office may lie ft-;happy one*, and that the Dominion may "enjoy prosperity during its currency. It was decided to forward the address to his Majesty through the Governor, and that the president and a prominent layman should personally present the other address to his Excellency. ... ;• Members of the conference ■ closed the morning- session by singing averse of..the National-Anthem. The Christchurch Prohibition . League .wroto that, it desired to send. a . deputation to wait on the. conference; It was resolved that a date should be fixed for he. purpose. In connection with tlie appointment..nf .the Cnnnexional secretary (the Rev. S. Lawry) it was intimated that under the ruling of the general conference the appointment was for six years, and .not from year to year. If desired, en alteration in this rule could be. made when the Independent Conference for New Zealand has been established. On the motion of the Itev. .T. T. PinI. it was resolved "that as 1911 js tlie tercentenary oi the Authorised Version of the Bible, and March 27 has been fixed on as the date for the celebration of this notable anniversary in Australia, r. small committee of the conferenco be appoint ed to consider when and in what wav our Church can best celebrate the event/'
