These payments cover butterfat which wns supplied to their several creameries during'tho month of January. The corresponding liayments l;-.st year were .£23,053 13s. 7d. Thus the increase for the month as compared with last vear is j>10.462 12s. 3d. Somo few months ago a Paris firm of produce, merchants wrote- to tho New Zealand Farmers' Dairy Union asking them' to quote for.the supply of unsalted butter,. and, also, inquiring if the local company would ship direct to Paris. The Dairy Union replied referring the Paris dealers to their London agents, and tho' secretary of the former has now received a, further communication, which discloses tho fact that the Paris firm had already been purchasing Dairy Union butter in London. The Jotter is as follows:—"We have to thank you for your favour of November 25, 1910, and beg to state that we have written to Messrs. Dalgoty and Company as suggested by you. We read in. "your circular that you arc makers of the 'Hinemoa' brand, of which we bought a largo quantity last season. This butter being very good stuff was. much appreciated on tho French market." —"Manawatu Standard." The Jlasterton "Age's" Te Wharau correspondent writes:—"This district.h?.s been well favoured this summer.in respect of rainfall, while other parts of tho country havo been suffering severely from drought' Tho eountry on this H(lo of the Maungarakis has never, been looking hotter, and tho abundance of feed is evidenced by tho splendid armenranco of stock' generally." . . . For. the month of January (says tho "Standard") the New Zealand Farmers' Dairy Union, Ltd., paid out to its milk suppliers a total of <5:"638 os. lid., which is =£317 more than for the corresponding period last year, notwithstanding that the; rate of advance is Jd. per lb. less this year, owing to tho much lower values ruling in England. Tho union hns kept up a steady advance of 10d. per lb. for Imtter-fat for sorao months past, and owing to a good local market for its well-known "Black Swan" brand it anticipates keeping up this price till the end of tho season. The quantity of butter made for January was 921 ton;;, which) owing to a large increase in tho. number of suppliers, is twelve tons more than in 1910. .
