HIGH PRICES IN ENGLAND.
' STOCK IN 1910.. ■Lord Londonderry, reviewing- the farming > year-of 1910 at a'.farmers' dinner at Darlington, said fat-cattle had during the year brought higher prices than almost anybody could remember, while etore cattle had also been relatively high (reports the "Live Stock'. Journal," London). The price of sheep and lambs had been very high, and so" had the price of pigs. On the other hand, the price of light horses had very much deteriorated. But he believed the breeding of draught horses would continue to be as profitable r in the- future as in the past. Last year mi eleven-year-old entiro horse from "tho Seaham Harbour Stud, fetched a thousand guineas, while twenty-seven of the horse's produce' realised over 130 guineas apiece. . So' that, although the price of ' the , light horse had' deteriorated, and was declining still, it was clear that draught horses, if properly bred, would always fetch a remunerative price to the breeder. To counteract the depression which might exist in some branches of ' agriculture, he had always counselled farmers to breed tho best stock.
