The big total (if .£llOs ios. was secured 'for the !H hor.-cs offered, all of which were sold Amongst the stallions (he top figure was l>51) guineas for linron Bald, aged, bought by Mr. James Patrick, of Ontram. Royal ..larcellus, three years, recently imported, was purchased for 540 guineas bv Mr' James Blnkio, ]{yall Bush. Abbott, which had two seasons stood in Southland, was bought by Mr. Robert Kennedy, of Drummoml. for 530 guineas, live stallions in all realised 2030 guineas 21 mares and fillies fetched .£147:2, the bast prices being lG(i guineas for a six-yea'r-old mare purchased by Mr. Robert Cleghorn, of Balfour, and 135 guineas for a twor.vear-old filly, bought by Mr. H. Clark, of Edendale. Canterbury, Orago' Southland, and Australian buyers were equally concerned in tho purchases made I'iMir ycarhngs produced 262 guineas, the highest figure being 33 guineas for a black colt by Baron Bald, purchased for lliomson and Company's Wairarapa stud farm.
