CONGO ANNEXATION.
ATTITUDE OF GREAT BRITAIN.

Mr. M'Kinnon Wood, Parliamentary Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs, announced in the House of Commons to-day that Great Britain would not recognise tho unnexation of the Congo Free State by Belgium until in possession of evidence showing that (ho situation with regard to the position of tho natives and trade was such as to afford reasonable opportunity for fulfilling British treaty rights.
