Not content with (his, the men on top started kicking him, and knocking him about generally. Ho shouted for help, and a man named Maurice Lees came to his assistance, only to be met with <i blow in the fate. The men then decamped, and Kcii'p had to seek medical assistance, and get some rather serious face wounds attended to. A complaint was raado to (he police, and, before 10 p.m., three firemen from tho s.s. Sussex were arrested. This ninrni'u; they were charged with havini; assaulted Koinp, thereby causing him actunl bodily harm. Xuh-Insiisrclnr llendry asked for , a remand until to-morrow morning, and this was granted. Stewart (one of the seamen) was also charged with assaulting Maurice Loos, but, (is the case arose out of the last, it ] was also remanded.
The allegations against the accused arc that they had a row with somebody up town, and, proceeding down to 'thoir lioat, they met Kemp, and had vented tneir ill-feelicgs on him.
