Austen Chamberlain,, formerly Chancellor of tho Exchequer in tho Balfour Cabinet, in 10-day's Veto debate in the Hoiiso of Commons, will movo nn amendment in favour of reforming the House of Lords while maintaining its independence, and also condemning tho Parliament Bill as conferring on a Single Chamber all effective legislative author-
ity, without providing any safeguard against the introduction of gravo changes, without the consent and contrary to tho will of the people.

Long, who was Chief Secretary for Ireland in tho Unionist Government, .speaking at Bristol,'urged relentless opposition to tho Parliament Bill, in order ,to secure an alternative schome for the reconstruction, of tie House of Lords, which should be brought, into closer conformity with tho needs sof the time. '■,'..' •.' ' ' ,\ The Government, said Mr. Long, proposed to paralyse the House of Lords in order. to arbitrarily carry Home Kulo for Ireland.
