'. BODY FOUND IN THE AVON. (By - Telegraph.—Press Association.! ■ • : Christchurch, February 2G. ' Tho body of an old man named John Ilalloran was found lying faco downward in tho Avon River this morning. Tho deceased left tho houso of a relative whero he was living- on Friday morning, and was last seen alive in town tho samo afternoon. .When found ho was .holding a hnnukerchicf in his left hand, and appearances went to show that ho had i-olled down tho bank into tho river. THROWN FROM A" HORSE. Hawera,'February 25.' A' settler named John Henry Woollcr, aged 77, was accidentally thrown from a horso lato ' yesterday afternoon. ■ His skull was' badly fractured. Ho was removed to the hospital nt 5.20, and succumbed to his injuries shortly before 7. Deceased was a widower, with a grown-up family. ,_ A {Matured bin resulted in the removal to tho hospital on Saturday of nn elderly woman named Mrs. Davis, residing at 37 Normiinby Street. Tho injury was the result of'a heavy fall.
