The Pacific Coast Senators withdrew their active' opposition '■' following Sir. Taft's assurance that no danger need, be apprehended regarding Oriental immigration, as Japan had pledged her honour to prevent an influx of undesirable coolies, and also to enforce a rigid scrutiny of all passports.
