Tho monthly meeting of the Board of Governors, of Wellington College and the - Girls' High School was held yesterday, thero being prosent: Tho chairman (Mr. A. de B. Brandon), Miss Richmond, and Messrs. T. M. Wilford, M.P., A. Warburton, Robert Lee, W. I' 1 . Wfird, and AV. H. Fiqld, M.P. : , Tlio statement of'finances showed a prospective balanco to credit of £2713 13s. Bd. . . •
A letter from t\he Secretary for Education stated that the Government grant for the additions to the Girls'. High School building had been . 'increased from. £3500 to £4500. This letter was "received" with general expressions of satisfaction. A considerable portion of the time of tho meeting was taken up with a somewhat discursive review .of ,'the scholarship regulations, in so far as, 1)ho board's "Turnbull" scholarship was aifected by the regulations. governing the award of Junior University Scholarships and Senior National Scholarships. It was agreed that the Turnbull scholarship was not affected, in ' tho Government and University regulations, but in consequenco of the various changes and developments which had tafeil place in regard to scholarships generally within recent years, it was: felt that tho necessity had been' created of revising the board's own regulations. ' It was decided,' therefore' to hold over further discussion on ' the question, and ,to have a report prepared'for tho enlightenment of , members. / ' .. '
