chrlstohuroh, February 24. Tho University Sonato, at its recent sittings in Cliristchurch, passed a resolution by a majority in favour of degrees in divinity being conferred by tho Now Zealand University. Tho Minister was asked if there was any possibility of thd resolution being E'vcn effect to, and ho replied that no did not think the possibilities wero very great. He did not think that tho fooling of Parliament would be in favour of tho proposal, which.would require legislation to bring it into force.. Ho had not given tho matter any recent consideration, but no action had been taken on a previous occasion when a similar resolution was sent to liira. Ho folt that thoro was not that 'unanimity in tho Senate itself which would justify a departuro of tho kind proposed.
