Tho <Prime Minister and Lady Ward paid a brief visit to Oamaru yesterday to bid farewell prior to leaving to attend the Imperial Conference and Coronation. Sir Joseph was enthusiastically received, and was accordcd a civic luncheon. Sergeant Cruickshanks, at present. stationed at N&pier, has - been promoted to tho office of sub-inspector and will ■ be sent to Dunedin. Sergeant Cruickshanks has had 32 years* continuous service and ho has an excellent record,' He served in Dunedin for a number of years and became sergeant in 1900. Subsequently ho was stationed at,Wei-; lington, Dannevirke, and lately at Na-' pier. He; will replace Sub-Inspector rh'air, who is under orders to take the place of Sub-Inspector Green (retired) > at Timaru. V
