Tho.Dublin "Daily Express" announces the'death of Dr. William Bair'd M'Quitty, •M.A., ono of tho best-known medical practitioners in Belfast.' Dr. M'Quitty had won a high placo iritlio iuedical profession and; enjoyed a large and extending consulting practice. A native of tho city, son of tho late Mr. James M'Quitty, ho won a Koyal Academical; Institution scholarship at the Model. School. Further successes followed, and .on' entering the Queen's College in 1881,-ho carried oIF tho medical scholarship the first' year with; a number of chief 'prizes. Altogether his prizes at.the. Queen's amounted to more than-.£Boo. in value. At tho' Royal University he captured, in' addition to.valuahlo exhibitions:and prizes, the coveted University studentship in experimental science, the! value of which was <£500. After filling successively the position of honsje surgeon and 'house phy- x sician at tho Helfast Royal Victoria Hospital, Dr. M'Quitty commenced private general pvactico in Colleue Square East. His practice and. reputation, grew steadily, and he came'to lie regarded as ono of. the most , skilful,. .talented, and reliable of the younger medical men of the city.' He filled tho honorary office of surgeon to the Ulster .Hospital for Women and Children, was held in high repute'as a clinical teacher.
